MiraCosta College will celebrate the grand opening of its new OC-30 Courtyard with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, September 29, marking the completion of a $69.4 million transformation of a central area of the Oceanside Campus.
The project replaces four aging buildings (3000, 3100, 3200, and 3300) with a new, multi-use facility that brings together academic programs, student services, and spaces for collaboration and connection. The project also renovated Buildings 3400 and 3700 and included improvements to the existing Student Center.
The new facility houses the Social Sciences Hub, Student Life and Leadership, Equity Centers, classrooms, faculty and staff offices, and student study and collaboration spaces. The improvements create a more connected campus environment where students can learn, access resources, participate in programs, and engage with the MiraCosta College community.
“Creating spaces where students can learn, connect, collaborate, and feel part of the MiraCosta College community is central to our mission,” said Dr. Lennor M. Johnson, superintendent/president of MiraCosta College. “This new facility brings together programs and resources in a welcoming, modern environment designed to support students throughout their educational journey.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at MiraCosta College’s Oceanside Campus, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside, CA 92056.
The program will feature speakers, student performances, and tours of the new facilities.
The project was delivered by design-build partners Gensler and Rudolph and Sletten Inc.
The facility incorporates several design features focused on efficiency, sustainability, and the student experience, including:
- Extensive natural light throughout the building
- High-efficiency fixtures
- Environmentally conscious, sustainable materials
- Low-water and native landscaping
Student artwork and educational materials throughout the facility reflect the MiraCosta College community and contribute to an engaging and welcoming campus environment.

The project was funded through Measure MM, the $455 million general obligation bond approved by local voters in 2016. Measure MM supports improvements across the MiraCosta Community College District, including modernization of aging infrastructure and upgrades to facilities serving science, health care, technology, career education, and the skilled trades.
The OC-30 Courtyard project is part of MiraCosta College’s broader investment in facilities designed to meet the evolving educational needs of students and the communities the District serves.
