MiraCosta College’s dual enrollment partnership with Oceanside Unified School District was recently featured by two San Diego media outlets, highlighting how local students are earning free college credit before starting high school.

video report by Shandel Menezes, NBC 7 San Diego featured Oceanside Unified students, some as young as 13, taking accelerated MiraCosta College courses during the summer. Students are completing 16 weeks of coursework in 16 days while exploring subjects such as ethnic studies, earth sciences, communications, and film.
The story also featured Omar Jimenez, MiraCosta College’s Dual Enrollment program manager, who shared how early exposure to college can help students build confidence and see higher education as part of their future.
