MiraCosta College Welcomes Three New Leaders to Support Student Development and Academic Achievement

MiraCosta College is pleased to announce leadership changes aimed at enhancing student development and academic success. Danielle Lauria joins the college as the new Dean of Nursing, Health, and Wellness, while Yi-Cheng Hu and Kristina Londy, both current MiraCosta College employees, transition into new roles as Director of the Child Development Center and Director of Student Success & Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility, respectively.

“We are proud to have Danielle Lauria, Yi-Cheng Hu, and Kristina Londy joining our talented leadership team working alongside faculty and classified professionals to create a brighter future for students at MiraCosta College,” explains Dr. Sunita “Sunny” Cooke, president/superintendent. “These three changemakers have extensive experience developing impactful and innovative programs, and we know their work will have a ripple effect, both for the students they support and the community as a whole.”

Danielle Lauria

Danielle Lauria joins MiraCosta College as the new Dean of Nursing, Health, and Wellness in the Instructional Services division. Before her role at MiraCosta College, Lauria served as the Director of Didactic Education at Point Loma Nazarene University and the Allied Health Program Director and Department Chair at San Diego Mesa College. Lauria brings extensive experience as both a healthcare professional and educator. She began her career as a Primary Care Physician Assistant and has worked in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Dermatology. She later became an educator and academic leader, using her hands-on experience to inform new health programs and curricula for college students.

Yi-Cheng Hu

As Director of the Child Development Center, Yi-Cheng Hu plans, supervises, assesses, and evaluates the programming and operations of the Child Development Center and laboratory school. Before her role as Director of the Child Development Center, Hu served as a Program Specialist at the MiraCosta College Child Development Center and later as the interim Director. She has also worked as a Site Supervisor for the Palomar College ECE Lab School, where she managed the lab school's daily operations and supported the teaching staff's professional development.

Kristina Londy

Kristina Londy brings a wealth of academic experience and expertise to the role of Director of Student Success & Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility. As Director, Londy is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the District’s Student Equity Plan, while also identifying the institutional needs of MiraCosta College so that the school can advance inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in all aspects of programming. Before her current role, Londy served as a Student Services Specialist within the Office of Student Life & Leadership at MiraCosta College, as well as Interim Director of the MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center at San Jose State University and Assistant Dean for the Office of Institutional Diversity at Harvey Mudd College.
