The Kruglak Art Gallery at MiraCosta College features To Do • A Mending Project, a workshop that taps into the restorative power of repair, from November 15 to December 15.
To Do • A Mending Project is a social practice created by artists Michelle Montjoy, Anna O’Cain, and Siobhan Arnold. The quirky and homespun exhibit and workshops are grounded in art history, the legacy of homespun craft, and the power of communal actions like barn raising and quilting bees.
Workshops will be offered and the artists will be present at times throughout the month, so that students and the public can join in the activities.
A reception will be held November 17 from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., with an artist talk at 11 a.m. that day.
Workshops will be held on November 15, 21, 28, 29, and December 5 and 12 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; and on November 22 and December 6 from 3-7 p.m. Dates for workshops during finals week will be announced.
The exhibit runs from November 15 to December 15, although the gallery will be closed November 24 and 25. Gallery hours are 2:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Admission is free. Please contact Kruglak Gallery director Diane Adams with questions.
