In collaboration with MiraCosta College Outreach Department and International Office, the MiraCosta College Public Information Office (PIO) has launched a new virtual tour experience highlighting MiraCosta College Oceanside Campus' various services, academic departments, and a slice of student life.
During the five-minute virtual tour video, current students and alumni take viewers on an exciting tour of the Oceanside Campus and provide viewers with a quick and convenient way of understanding the campus culture and experience. The virtual tour video also brings people together while maintaining social distancing standards.
For the first time, the virtual tour video provides prospective students from hundreds or even thousands of miles a chance to experience MiraCosta and learn about what makes the College a great place to begin or continue their higher education journey.
"The new virtual tour video is a great representation of our beautiful campus and diverse community we serve," said Mia Scavone, coordinator of Institute for International Perspectives. "For international students looking for a study abroad location, the virtual tour provides a glimpse into the college experience we offer, and we are excited to share our college and campus community with the world," explains Scavone.
In charge of developing all of the College's marketing campaigns and brand awareness, PIO collaborated with San Diego-based video production company, Fifty Square Feet Productions, whose expertise focuses on creative storytelling, made them the perfect company to bring the project's vision to life. "It's always an honor to work with companies and organizations that truly care about the ones they serve," said Sara Persson, co-founder of Fifty Square Feet Productions with husband, Matt Helbig. Persson served as producer of the virtual tour video, while Helbig directed. "The diverse and talented group of students gave a bang-up performance, and it was a pleasure to work with them. We want to thank the students for the collaboration on the project, which we are really proud to have been a part of," adds Persson.
MiraCosta College took great precautions in filming the virtual tour video during the beginning of the spring 2021 semester. All crew members, college staff, and students involved in the project used appropriate safety protocols to limit the spread of COVID-19, including wearing facemasks, using hand hygiene, and physical distancing.
