The MiraCosta Community College District is seeking qualified community members to apply for a vacancy on its Board of Trustees representing Trustee Area 5 following the departure of Trustee Ann Crosbie.
Trustee Area 5 represents South Oceanside within the District. The District’s seven elected trustees each represent a designated trustee area and must reside within it. [

Crosbie joined the MiraCosta College Board of Trustees in December 2024, bringing decades of experience in education advocacy and public service. Prior to joining MiraCosta’s Board, she served on the Ohlone Community College Board and for eight years on the Fremont Unified School District Board. A San Diego County native and former MiraCosta College student, Crosbie has maintained a longstanding commitment to educational access and opportunity. Her current Area 5 term was scheduled to continue through 2028.
Application Process
Individuals interested in being considered for appointment to the vacant Trustee Area 5 seat must submit:
- A completed application
- A letter of interest
- A current résumé

Eligibility
Applicants must be registered voters and reside within MiraCosta Community College District Trustee Area 5. Prospective applicants are encouraged to confirm their trustee area before applying. The District provides trustee-area information online, and residents may verify their trustee area through the San Diego County Registrar of Voters.
Selection Process
Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in public interviews before the MiraCosta Community College District Board of Trustees on November 5 at 4 p.m. at the Community Learning Center (CLC), 1831 Mission Avenue, Oceanside.
Following the interviews, the Board may select a candidate through a majority vote at the public meeting. Under Board Policy 2110, the Board must either order an election or make a provisional appointment within 60 days of a vacancy or the filing of a deferred resignation. A provisional appointee serves until the next regularly scheduled election for District Board of Trustees members, when voters elect a trustee to serve the remainder of the unexpired term.
