MiraCosta College student and professional skateboarder Bryce Wettstein helped XC New York win the inaugural MoonPay X Games League Summer Championship at X Games New Orleans on July 26.

According to X Games, Wettstein placed fourth in the women’s skateboard park competition, contributing to XC New York’s championship finish. The event marked the conclusion of the league’s inaugural summer season.

During the nationally televised ABC broadcast, commentators identified Wettstein as a MiraCosta College student and highlighted her work as a musician.

Following the competition, Wettstein reflected on her experience with XC New York and the relationships she developed throughout the season.

“Just being part of Team New York has inspired me and has been such an unbelievable huge influence on me,” Wettstein wrote on Instagram. “It feels like family.”

The Encinitas native is a two-time Olympian who represented the United States in women’s park skateboarding at the Tokyo and Paris Olympic Games. She placed sixth at both competitions and has earned two X Games bronze medals.

Wettstein continues to balance her professional skateboarding career with her studies, music, and other creative interests at MiraCosta College.

She concluded her Instagram post with a message about persistence: “Patience grows where persistence flows!”
