MiraCosta College is earning statewide recognition for work that connects, engages, and reflects the real experiences of its students and community.

At the 2026 Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO) Awards, MiraCosta received five honors across video, digital advertising, social media, and print. The awards were announced during the organization's annual conference, held April 8–10 in Paso Robles, California, where more than 500 entries were submitted from community colleges across the state.

Together, the wins point to a clear strength. MiraCosta is producing work that resonates.
The college earned two Gold awards, including recognition for its Transforming Lives magazine and a quick-turnaround video, MiraCosta Feel Good Friday: What Made You Smile This Week? The video stands out for its simplicity and authenticity, capturing real moments of joy and connection on campus.

"I loved filming that video. Asking what made people smile brought out real, unscripted moments," said France Magtira-Cruz, Ed.D., Marketing and Communications Coordinator at MiraCosta College. "That kind of moment stays with you. To see something that honest recognized at this level, especially among so many strong entries across the state, was unexpected.”

Two Silver awards followed. One for Social Media Management, recognizing the MiraCosta College Official Instagram Page and its strong, consistent engagement with the campus community. The other recognized its digital advertising campaign, Online, On Your Time, focused on meeting students where they are with clear, flexible pathways into education.

Rounding out the list, MiraCosta received a Bronze award for its 2025 Built to Adapt promotional campaign that was the theme of the 2025 Community Leaders’ Breakfast - Report to the Community, reinforcing the college's message of adaptability in a changing world.

"These awards reflect the creativity, strategy, and dedication behind MiraCosta's marketing and communications efforts," said CCPRO President Jack Beresford. "CCPRO is proud to recognize the important work being done to promote the mission of California community colleges."

From student-centered storytelling to data-informed campaigns, the MiraCosta College Office of Advancement continues to move its marketing forward while staying grounded in its mission. The result is work that not only reaches people but also reflects them.

The Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO) supports marketing and communications professionals across California's 116 community colleges, promoting excellence and professional growth across the field.
