Your Image Description In the March/April 2026 issue of The Osider Magazine, the article “Oceanside’s Finest: Raye Clendening” highlights the longtime educator and community leader whose decades of service have shaped the Oceanside community. Clendening began her career in education in 1979 and went on to serve as a teacher, vice principal, principal, and later Director of Student Services and Special Education. She founded Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Oceanside and led the school as principal for several years. Beyond education, Clendening has served on numerous community boards, including Vista Community Clinic and the MiraCosta College Foundation, and currently serves as a trustee for MiraCosta College. Her work supporting students, mentoring young leaders, and advancing scholarship opportunities has helped hundreds pursue higher education. In recognition of her impact, Clendening was inducted into the San Diego County Women’s Hall of Fame in 2024 and was named Woman of the Year by Assemblywoman Laurie Davies in 2025.
