MiraCosta College Soccer enters the postseason with purpose as both the men’s and women’s teams advance to the
California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) state tournament, the highest level of competition in California community college athletics. The Spartans earned home-field advantage for the opening round and will host back-to-back matches on Wednesday, November 19. The men open at 11 a.m. against #20 Golden West, followed by the women at 2 p.m., taking on #23 LA Pierce.
“Our student athletes continue to show what hard work looks like,” said Patrick Conahan, MiraCosta College athletic director. “Both teams earned their spot in the postseason through discipline, consistency, and a strong team culture. I am proud of how they represent MiraCosta on and off the field, and I hope our campus and community come out to support them.”
The 3C2A State Championship brings together the top community college programs across California. Teams qualify based on season performance and statewide rankings, and earning a home match signals a strong regular season and the respect of regional seeding committees. MiraCosta College enters with both programs ranked in the top tier of Southern California.
The
men’s team secured second place in the conference with a 10–3–1 record, continuing a four-year run of finishing first or second. Five Spartans earned all-conference recognition: Dominik Wicks, Danny Barbosa, Cesar Cruz, Jiovanny Ramirez, and Lincoln Newcomer. The team has endured multiple season-ending injuries yet maintained consistency through depth, discipline, and a strong team culture that has kept them competitive with top programs statewide.
The
women’s team also finished second in conference at 11–1–4, extending its own four-year streak of top-two finishes. All conference honorees include Mylie Tinoisamoa, Martina Ertz, Adile Oceguera, Hailey Benito, and Amslee Mikichi. The group’s steady play and balanced roster have positioned them well for postseason competition.
“There’s been so many ups and downs throughout this season, and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished, and also how much we’ve grown as a team,” said first-year standout Amslee Mikichi. “The girls are just absolutely the best, and the amount of fun we’ve had this season has truly played a big part in getting us this far. We are honored to host the first round of playoffs and represent MiraCosta. Go, Spartans!”
General admission is $12, and admission for college staff, students, or senior citizens is $8. For more information about both teams,
