MiraCosta College’s innovative BrewTech program was recently featured in Episode 605 of Inside California Education, a statewide PBS series that spotlights impactful programs across California’s public schools and community colleges.

The segment, titled Brewing the Future: Crafting Tomorrow’s Brewers, takes viewers inside the BrewTech lab at MiraCosta’s Technology Career Institute in Carlsbad. It highlights how the program prepares students for careers in the brewing industry through hands-on training, academic instruction, and strong partnerships with local breweries.

The story includes interviews with faculty, students, and alumni, as well as a visit to Stone Brewing in Escondido, one of several regional employers that have hired BrewTech graduates.

“This feature is a powerful example of how community colleges are aligning education with workforce needs,” said Dr. France Magtira-Cruz, who led coordination for the project. “It was a joy to support this effort and help showcase the incredible students, alumni, and partners behind BrewTech.”
