Technology Career Institute students in hands-on training

MiraCosta College’s Technology Career Institute (TCI) has steadily expanded since its founding in 2013, becoming a key resource for local employers looking for skilled workers. Companies like Creative Electron in San Marcos rely on TCI as a steady talent pipeline, with more than 60% of its service department made up of TCI graduates.

TCI tailors its programs based on industry needs, offering hands-on training in fields like manufacturing, electronics, and HVAC. Supported by grants and industry partnerships, the institute has secured over $13 million in funding, including a $500,000 donation from Lowe’s Foundation in 2024 to launch electrician and HVAC programs. With 93% of graduates placed in jobs, TCI ensures students gain practical skills and workplace readiness, making them valuable hires from day one.
