Juneteenth is an annual celebration commemorating the freedom of all enslaved people in the United States of America. On June 19, 1865, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Union soldiers went to Galveston, Texas, to enforce the freeing of all remaining slaves.

In observance of Juneteenth, all MiraCosta College campuses will be closed on June 19. This day is dedicated to honoring and reflecting on the significance of freedom and equality. Classes will resume on June 20.

Join us in celebrating this important day and reflecting on its historical significance.
