Get ready for a family-friendly and culturally enriching celebration on May 5 at MiraCosta College’s Oceanside Campus (1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside, CA 92056). MiraCosta College is excited to announce two dynamic events on the same day: the 19th annual STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Math)Festival and the inaugural Festival de Música Latina. From hands-on science and technology activities to lively Latin music performances, there's something for everyone to enjoy at these engaging events.
The STREAM Festival aims to spark curiosity in these subjects and potential careers by focusing on science, technology, reading/writing, engineering, arts, and math. Attendees can participate in activities created by MiraCosta College Students, Staff, Faculty, and local Community Partners. The festival provides a unique opportunity for visitors to explore various fields and consider the educational offerings at MiraCosta College.
The inaugural Festival de Música Latina, also taking place on Sunday, May 5, will feature live performances by Mariachi Nueva Tradicion, Los Yauris, and Banda Nuevo Amanecer, renowned bands with decades of global experience entertaining audiences. Attendees will also enjoy complimentary food for the first 200 guests. Highlighting the rich Latinx culture of Southern California, this event aims to spotlight its influence in the region and foster community connections.
Maria-Isabel Rocha, Interim Project Grant Director, Title V, stated, “We believe that music has the power to bring people together, and the first annual Festival de Música Latina is one example of MiraCosta College’s commitment to creating a space where diverse groups can celebrate one another and build community in a family-friendly environment.”
The Festival de Música Latina promotes education, culture, confidence, and community. Attendees can connect with their friends and neighbors while enjoying various musical styles, including mariachi, ballet folklorico, and banda.
