March 15: The United Black Student Conference

The Black Student Union proudly presents an all-day conference featuring workshops on genealogy, social media management, resume building, career development, black theater/film, and much more. Led by MiraCosta's own student leaders, faculty, staff, and community partners, this event promises to be a cornerstone for young leaders. For more information, please contact MiraCosta College’s Social Justice and Equity Center: studentequity@miracosta.edu.

Black History Month originated in 1926 when Dr. Carter G. Woodson initiated a week-long celebration to acknowledge the achievements of African Americans. This later expanded to a whole month, and today, February is a tribute to historical figures and the continuing successes of the Black community.

MiraCosta College recognizes the significance of Black history and achievements year-round. We strive to celebrate and educate about Black heritage beyond just the month of February, fostering a culture of recognition and appreciation that permeates our institution.

We invite everyone to participate in these enlightening events. Together, let’s honor the narratives, struggles, and triumphs that are woven into the fabric of our nation's history.
