MiraCosta College Theatre Presents: She Kills Monsters

The MiraCosta College Theatre Department presents She Kills Monsters, a comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games! In this high-octane, dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and ‘90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. However, when Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge.

"A huge piece of my vision for this show was to create a realistic and truthful experience within such a fantastical and dynamic play. The script is very freeing in that it doesn’t give specific boundaries, so I could do whatever I wanted," notes director Shaun Heard. "Pushing boundaries, truthfully, is what we’re going for with this piece. The actors have been so fearless, I got very lucky with the talent at MiraCosta College. Each cast member is talented and has a unique energy, and I’m very grateful to have gotten to work with them all!"
