The MiraCosta College Foundation today announced that the Gene Haas Foundation has donated $10,000 to help support the MiraCosta Technology Career Institute.

The primary mission of the Gene Haas Foundation is to partner with schools to introduce students to career opportunities in Manufacturing and to provide scholarships to students who choose training in Computer Numerical Control (CNC).

The charitable gift from Gene Haas Foundation will create more opportunities for students at MiraCosta College to receive accelerated, hands-on job training that allows them to pursue high-quality, high-wage professions. In total, the Gene Haas Foundation has contributed $65,000 to the MiraCosta College Foundation to help students achieve their dreams.

The Technology Career Institute at MiraCosta College provides opportunities for students to gain real-world work experience through hands-on, accelerated educational offerings. Upon completion, program graduates are well positioned for employment with many of the world's most renowned corporations. The Technology Career Institute offers the most up-to-date certificates and work skills training programs for those hoping to jump into careers quickly.

“The support we have received from the Gene Haas Foundation has been enormously valuable to many of the students in MiraCosta’s Machinist Technology program over the years,” shared Linda Kurokawa, Executive Director of Community Education & Workforce Development at MiraCosta College. “It has allowed us to offer generous scholarships for those in need of financial assistance who might otherwise have to wait or even skip attending the program. It’s a game changer for those students because it means they can attend our machinist program to gain the skills necessary for high-demand, living-wage jobs.”

For over 40 years, the MiraCosta College Foundation, in partnership with the community in San Diego County, has supported students by funding their pursuits toward a higher education, and providing the resources to help guide them toward success.

The vision of the MiraCosta College Foundation is to ensure that no one is denied access to education because of financial need and that resources are available to enrich the college experience for all students. In service to this vision, our mission is to promote the interests and welfare of the college and to secure resources that will transform student lives.

The Gene Haas Foundation was established in 1999 by Haas Automation, Inc. founder and owner Gene Haas, to support the needs of the local community, through grants to local charities. The Foundation donates millions of dollars every year to manufacturing education and the community. In 2021, the Gene Haas Foundation is providing than $18.5 million in grants to education and another $3 million to the communities in which Haas businesses are located, bringing the total grants since inception to more than to $120 million.
