The Music of America
This course surveys a variety of music genres that evolved from the merging of different cultural traditions into distinctively new American music styles. The styles students examine include the music of the early colonists to spirituals, the blues, and jazz as well as NorteƱo, salsa, zydeco, Hawaiian, and klezmer.
