MiraCosta College is excited to invite the community to its Employer & Community Connection Fair on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the MiraCosta Community Learning Center, located at 1831 Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA 92058. This free, family-friendly event offers a valuable opportunity for attendees to engage with community leaders, explore career opportunities, and access essential resources for academic and career success.

The Fair will feature an insightful panel discussion with community representatives from Junior Achievement of San Diego, the San Diego County Office of Education, Education Begins in the Home, as well as MiraCosta College’s Career and Child Centers. Panelists will share valuable information about organizational opportunities, hiring requirements, onboarding processes, and their commitment to equity and accessibility. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask HR representatives questions related to their career interests.

In addition to the panel discussion, the San Diego Small Business Development Center will host booths offering helpful resources, and MiraCosta College outreach groups will be present to provide information about educational opportunities. Food and refreshments will be available for in-person attendees.

Lila Podlewski, a graduate of MiraCosta College’s Workforce Preparation program, shared her journey. “The Teacher's Aide program taught me the fundamentals of an educator's responsibilities, and it exposed me to real-life experiences with the social aspects of an Instructional Aide's role. Now, thanks to the Workforce Preparation program, I work as an Instructional Aide at MiraCosta, and assisting teachers and students has been very rewarding. I love my job!”

The Employer & Community Connection Fair is designed to serve adults who are curious about education or looking to make innovative connections with local employers. The event is especially valuable for adult learners who face challenges such as work, family responsibilities, and other life demands. It provides improved access to internships, career centers, equity programs, student accessibility services, and counseling—all geared toward supporting adult learners at any stage of their educational journey.

"This Fair is part of our commitment to create more accessible pathways to education for adult learners, meeting their needs equitably without financial burden," said event organizer Edwina Williams.

MiraCosta College continues to focus on expanding access to education and accelerated certificates, while also introducing students to new fields and work-based learning opportunities. With a focus on wraparound services, the college aims to offer the support needed for adult learners to succeed both academically and professionally.

The Employer & Community Connection Fair is a must-attend event for anyone curious about connecting with local employers, learning about career opportunities, and discovering resources that can support their educational and career goals at any stage.
