MiraCosta College is thrilled to announce the return of its much-anticipated event, the 18th Annual Oceanside Jazz Festival, scheduled for April 4-6, 2024. This year's festival is proud to feature the extraordinary talents of Laila Biali, a multi-award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter, pianist, and CBC Music national radio host.

Under the artistic direction of Matt Falker, the festival is set to showcase MiraCosta College’s own Frequency Vocal Jazz ensembles alongside the celebrated guest artist, Laila Biali. The main event will take place on the evening of Friday, April 5, promising an unforgettable experience of jazz performances.

Event Highlights:

  • Festival Dates: April 4-6, 2024.
  • Special Guest Artist Concert: Laila Biali with Frequency Vocal Jazz on Friday, April 5
  • Participation: Over 30 choirs from schools across the United States.
  • Public Access: Daytime school performances, clinics, and master classes on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are open to the public and free of charge, except for the Friday evening concert.

This festival, hosted by the Frequency Vocal Jazz Ensemble, will not only entertain but also educate, offering daytime performances, clinics, and master classes led by esteemed professionals in the jazz community. Since its inception in 2007, the Oceanside Jazz Festival has grown significantly, becoming a highlight for vocal and instrumental jazz ensembles from middle schools, high schools, colleges, and communities. With its expansion to include an instrumental festival in 2010, the event now welcomes a diverse array of performers, further enriching the cultural tapestry of Oceanside and the broader jazz community.
