Veterans Day Message

Hello MiraCostans.

On this Veterans Day, we express our profound gratitude and respect for individuals serving in our nation's armed forces. Their sacrifice, and that of their families, embodies the highest ideals of service and commitment to our country.

At MiraCosta College, we recognize the unique experiences, insights, and valuable skills that veterans bring to our campus. We are committed to supporting our student veterans, active duty, and dependents with the resources and opportunities to thrive in their academic and personal endeavors.

Today and throughout the year, we honor the courage and selflessness of our student veterans, not just with words but through our actions and ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for them and their families.

Please enjoy reading about two of our veteran students: Ana Ornelas, a former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant with a passion for forensic psychology, and former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Ryan Wilkerson, who is enrolled in the Engineering Technician Program.

Thank you to all our veterans for your service and sacrifice. You are an integral part of our college community; we are immeasurably better for it.

Sincerely,
Sunita "Sunny" Cooke, Ph.D.
President/Superintendent
