The second annual Alumnight: Biotech event at MiraCosta College's Oceanside Campus celebrated the successes and connections made by graduates of the college's bachelor's degree program in biomanufacturing. The MiraCosta Alumni Association and Biotechnology Department presented the event on September 15 and brought together graduates, faculty, staff, and industry representatives.

Genentech, a leading biotech company that has hired many MiraCosta College graduates, sponsored the event. The program, which was launched in 2017, has seen a remarkable 95% success rate. These graduates, many of whom come from historically underrepresented populations in STEM fields, have gone on to secure well-paying jobs that provide for their families.

The event's primary is to foster connections between alumni and industry partners. Attendees had the opportunity to reconnect with their peers and engage with industry representatives like Nazeli Dertsakian from Genentech, who addressed the alumni. The event served as a platform for strengthening ties within the biotech community and enhancing future career prospects for the graduates of MiraCosta College's biomanufacturing program.
