For the third year in a row, MiraCosta College has received an iCommute Diamond Award recognizing employers in the San Diego region who have made strides to promote alternative commute choices in the workplace. San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) recognized the Fiscal Year 2021 Diamond Awards recipients with a virtual awards presentation on September 21.
“MiraCosta College is honored to be recognized by iCommute. However, accolades aside, MiraCostans utilize transportation alternatives as part of the District’s Institutional Goal 4,” explains Tim Flood, vice president of administrative services. This institutional goal states MiraCosta College will demonstrate responsible stewardship and sustainability of college and community resources by deploying strategies that invest in our employees to reach their full potential, maintain a sustainable and transparent financial model, and reduce the environmental impact of our physical resources.
Diamond Award employers help commuters get to work or school without adding traffic to the region’s roads and freeways, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve mobility. This is accomplished by promoting alternatives to driving alone, like vanpool, carpool, walk, bike, transit, telework, or a combination of these.
One of the ways MiraCosta College encourages our community to consider alternative commute choices is by promoting California Clean Air Day, on Wednesday, October 6. To learn more about California Clean Air Day visit:
