MiraCosta College Teams with PlanetBids to Expand Access to Contractors and Vendors

02/9/2021

Bidding on contracts for work at MiraCosta College—including work associated with the $455 million, Proposition MM bond measure—just got a lot easier.

In the spirit of conducting remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, MiraCosta College has signed up with PlanetBids, a web-based bid and vendor management software serving more than 200 California public agencies. PlanetBids provides MiraCosta College and its bond management team the opportunity to engage with a broader pool of vendors and contractors, that have registered with the service for electronic bid submissions, which is key during COVID-19 to minimize in-person interactions.

“It will provide the District better outreach and transparency to local and small businesses and our community, resulting in increased engagement and competitive pricing on bids,” said Mina Hernandez, MiraCosta College’s Director of Purchasing & Material Management.

Those who had previously registered with PlanetBids.com for notifications of available projects throughout the region should have received an email message from the firm alerting them to the addition of MiraCosta College to the PlanetBids service. To register with MiraCosta College, vendors and contractors should visit the MiraCosta College “Current Bid Opportunities” webpage, select the “PlanetBids Vendor Portal” box, and select “New Vendor Registration.”

Public works/maintenance contractors should also complete the prequalification section by selecting “yes” when asked “Would you like to apply for Contractor Prequalification?”
