Mitra De Souza is an experienced student affairs leader, who is passionate about fostering environments where diversity flourishes. She is the new Director of Student Services at the MiraCosta College Community Learning Center (CLC). This is a new position for the college and Mitra’s role is designed to evolve based upon CLC needs. Currently, she is serving as the student conduct officer, manages the Noncredit Student Success and Support Program (NCSSP), as well as managing the Campus Assessment, Resources, and Education (CARE) team, supervising student referrals, where she focuses on expanding follow-up services to work more closely with students who are faced with multiple barriers to their success.

Mitra has over 20 years of experience in higher education and a M.Ed. in College Student Personnel from the University of Maryland. She is an alumnus of University of California, Irvine (UCI) and worked for several years at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago before returning to UCI to work as a Counselor/Coordinator of Student Success Initiatives prior to her position at the CLC.
