Faculty Profile: Dr. Ngo

A tenured faculty member in the Business Department, Dr. Ngo brings more than a decade of teaching experience and over 15 years of industry expertise in procurement and supply chain management to her new leadership role. She has served the College in a variety of departmental and collegewide leadership positions. She is widely recognized for her unwavering commitment to student success, equity, and innovation in career education.

Dr. Ngo’s teaching experience spans undergraduate and graduate programs delivered in on-campus, hybrid, and online formats. She has also taught at the University of San Diego, California State University San Marcos, and San Diego Miramar College, further broadening her reach and perspective within higher education.

Before joining MiraCosta College in 2017, Dr. Ngo built a distinguished career in industry, serving as a Category Manager for organizations including Alere Inc., CareFusion Corporation, University of California San Diego, and BAE Systems Inc. Her portfolio included oversight of contracts and supplier relationships across human resources, professional services, facilities and construction, fleet, security, life sciences, and general laboratory supplies. Her expertise spans negotiations, change management, group dynamics, research methods, contracts, and federal and state regulations, bringing valuable workforce insight to her leadership of Career Education programs.

Dr. Ngo holds a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego, an MBA from Arizona State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Diego.

Throughout her tenure at MiraCosta, Dr. Ngo has been a driving force behind initiatives that create meaningful pathways for students. She helped launch the college’s Career Mentoring program, pairing business and accounting students, particularly those from traditionally underserved communities, with industry professionals to support their academic and career goals. She also spearheaded the development of a supply chain management certificate and degree program in partnership with professional associations that aligned with high-demand, well-paying jobs in the regional economy.

In addition, Dr. Ngo played an instrumental role in advancing the statewide Guided Pathways initiative, strengthening support systems to ensure disproportionately impacted students can complete their certificates and degrees. Her leadership and impact were recognized statewide when she was named one of 46 honorees celebrated in 2022 and featured in the publication “Celebrating Exemplary Student Support Leaders: Stories and Practical Advice from California Community College Faculty and Staff,” produced by The Ada Center in cooperation with the California Futures Foundation.

Reflecting on her new role, Dr. Ngo shared, “I am honored to serve as Dean of Business and Technology and to continue working alongside our exceptional faculty, staff, and industry partners. Career Education changes lives. By aligning our programs with workforce needs while keeping equity and student support at the center of our work, we can ensure that every student, regardless of background, has access to opportunity, mentorship, and a clear path to a meaningful career. More than just a job, we are equipping them with the adaptability and curiosity to become lifelong learners who can evolve with our rapidly changing world.”

A proud San Diegan, Dr. Ngo was born and raised in the region. Her connection to community colleges began as a high school student taking dual-enrollment courses. Today, she lives in Poway with her partner and three sons and enjoys spending time at the beach, working on puzzles, and practicing yoga.
