Meet Olivia Montgomery

Olivia Montgomery is a MiraCosta theater major with a strong record of academic achievement, artistic range, and hands-on experience across acting, dance, and technical theater. Her work reflects consistent growth and a steady commitment to her craft.

Montgomery has been connected to the arts since childhood, but she says her training deepened at MiraCosta. She points to acting, dance, and stagecraft courses that helped her understand performance from every angle. “They have amazing classes and faculty who really want to teach,” she said. “Every class challenged me to improve and try something new.”

Her accomplishments on campus include standout roles in The Play That Goes Wrong, featured performances in dance concerts, and technical work that strengthened her understanding of backstage operations. Faculty describe her as someone who shows up prepared, adapts quickly, and contributes meaningfully on and off stage.

Montgomery earned the Theater Department Merit Scholarship, a recognition reserved for students who show exceptional talent and dedication. The award supported essential needs such as sheet music, scripts, and transportation. “It made a real difference,” she said. “Knowing the department believed in me was incredibly validating.”

Beyond her campus work, Montgomery performed the National Anthem at the San Diego Clippers season opener, an opportunity that came through a fellow student who recognized her talent and professionalism. She prepared for the performance with the same focus she brings to every project, working with her longtime voice teacher and practicing daily to deliver a confident, heartfelt rendition.

Her success is supported by MiraCosta’s academic resources. She relied on tutoring, counseling, and the Transfer Center to manage her workload and plan for the future. She will transfer to a four-year university in the spring. “I’ve learned to advocate for myself and stay calm under pressure,” she said. “MiraCosta helped me build a strong foundation.”

Montgomery says her motivation comes from her family. “My parents. They’ve always supported me, and I want to show them that all the love they gave me shines on stage.”

Montgomery’s path shows how talent, discipline, and community support shape a student’s journey. Her work reflects the creative spirit and determination found throughout MiraCosta College.
