Discrete Mathematics

Designed for students majoring in mathematics or computer science, this course introduces discrete mathematics, including logic, methods of proof, number theory, sets, counting, discrete probability, relations, recursion, recurrence relations, Boolean algebra, graphs, trees, and networks. Topics are illustrated with applications to computer science, including design and analysis of algorithms, undecidability, program correctness, and digital logic design. UC CREDIT LIMITATION: Credit for MATH 226 or MATH 226H.

Instructor notes: This online class requires students to use a computer with reliable internet service and to purchase access to an online learning system in order to access learning materials and assignments at using the following class key: miracosta 5995 3238 Students must take proctored (paper-and-pencil) final exam and two midterm tests given on the MiraCosta campus at the Academic Proctoring Center during the fixed testing windows (usually 2 or 3 days long) indicated in the schedule for this class.
