College Research Skills

This course introduces students to the nature of research and the library's role in research. It emphasizes the development of information competency skills (the ability to find, evaluate, and organize information) for papers, presentations, and other research assignments. Students learn about a variety of information resources, including print, electronic databases, and the World Wide Web.

Instructor notes: LIBR 101 is an 8-week, web-based class in Canvas. Class begins on Monday, October 14, 2019. No textbook needed. I will provide the Syllabus the week before class begins. Please consider attending an Student Orientation to Online Learning ( if this is your first online course. The lessons and assignments have been designed to introduce you to the effective and efficient use of the college library for the preparation of class assignments, essays, research papers, and speeches. Classwork is straightforward, but requires you to follow written directions.
