MiraCosta College Trustees Receive Phi Theta Kappa Award
The 2019-2020 MiraCosta College Board of Trustees has received a 2020 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Board of Trustees Award.
The award recognizes the Board’s continued support of its PTK chapter and the opportunities for leadership and professional development it has provided for students. Only four Boards of Trustees nationwide were selected for this honor.
The MiraCosta Board of Trustees was nominated by its Phi Theta Kappa chapter. The Board funds travel for faculty and staff to participate in professional development opportunities and conferences, and its Trustees support campus organizations by attending and speaking at various ceremonies.
The Board brought in a speaker to spotlight and support the college’s formerly incarcerated student population, and it established a scholarship to cover the full membership fee of eligible PTK students.
“An engaged and student-focused Board of Trustees is vital to the student success efforts of the entire institution,” PTK President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner said. “We commend the MiraCosta College Board of Trustees for their high commitment to the education and service initiatives shown to increase student completion and employment outcomes.”
