San Diego and Imperial County community colleges are teaming with universities and nonprofits throughout the region in sponsoring an array of online workshops, legal clinics, and more in celebration of Undocumented Student Action Week from October 19-23 – part of a statewide initiative advocating and providing resources for some of the most dedicated students in California.
The California Community Colleges estimates it serves up to 70,000 undocumented students in the state, and the Migration Policy Institute estimates that half of that number are protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which is afforded to law-abiding students brought to this country when they were children.
The following are just some of the myriad events sponsored or co-sponsored by community colleges throughout the two-county region. All are free and open to the public. Registration is required. Registration links can also be found under “News” at mylocalcc.org.
