Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters - The Muse

Guide: Lynn Wetzell
Tuesday, August 4, 2009

When a painter faces a blank canvas or a sculptor picks up a chisel and confronts a mute block of stone, where do they look for inspiration to guide their hands and turn their efforts into art? The Muse, the 2009 Pageant of the Masters, will devote its uniquely theatrical celebration of the art of tableaux vivants—“living pictures” —to an exploration of the nature of artistic inspiration. Held annually in Laguna Beach, the pageant recreates great works of art with living models.  This theatrical phenomenon is made possible by some 500 volunteer cast members and backstage workers. Viewing will be excellent
from our loge-section seating. The day will include time to browse through the Festival of Arts grounds and also visit the Sawdust Festival or Art-a-Fair, offering a variety of paintings, creative arts, beautiful jewelry, and fine crafts. The pageant is presented at 8:30 p.m. in an outdoor amphitheatre, so warm
clothing is recommended. Enjoy dinner on your own in beautiful downtown Laguna Beach (within walking distance) or dine at the
restaurant on the festival grounds.
