This is your chance to be a rocket scientist! Explore the science involved in rocket construction as you build and launch your own rocket. Use teamwork to complete an important space mission and build a model space station. Explore the farthest reaches of our solar system and create a lunar eclipse in our Mad Science planetary tour. This stellar camp is your ticket to the stars as you journey through the galaxy. Take home projects include Skyblazer II Rocket, Shuttle Copter, Lightning Launcher, Shimmering Stars, Catch-a-Comet, Kepler’s Cube and more!

Tracey Mumby, the originator of the San Diego Jr. Vet Tech program will be at MiraCosta College to teach this highly acclaimed program for those who love animals! She will teach you what it takes to become a veterinarian, show you how to use the tools of the trade using live animals, and shows you how to increase your own pet’s well-being. This is a hands-on class with real world practices. Not recommended for children who are allergic to animals.

CSI Forensics

How do real detectives solve mysteries? Participate in a simulated mystery where you become the detective
as you learn logic, inductive and deductive reasoning, data collection and analysis. Become investigators in a
program designed to encourage participation, observation and detective skills. Visit “evidence scenes,” and discover clues as a group. Then put it all together to solve the mystery!

Mad Science All-Stars
2–4 grade • July 21–25 • 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
You have been selected to participate on the Mad Science All-Star team! Learn about famous scientists and inventors who were all-stars in their field of expertise. Follow in their footsteps as we equip you with the science skills needed to rise to the top. Together with your teammates you will build super structures, create a volcanic eruption and examine rocks formed from volcanic magma. Soar high above as you build a kite and glider and experiment with lift, aerodynamics and air pressure. Discover the secret behind the stars and make a star chart. Take home projects include: magnetic soccer game, rocket racer, star locater, kite, animal track, crystal garden and more!

Oceanography

Explore the mysterious depths of our world’s oceans. From ship wrecks to tube worms, this is a hands-on
discovery of life under the sea. Learn about dolphins and whales and find how smart they are! Discover what
it is like to work aboard a scientific ocean-exploration ship. Explore marine biology and ecology up-close-andpersonal on an exciting adventure to the Birch Aquarium and La Jolla tide pools on the last day of class. Parent volunteers will be needed for transportation to/from La Jolla on July 11. Let us know when you register if you would like to volunteer!
