Actors Guild: Radio, TV and Film
5–8 grade • July 28–Aug 1 • 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
2–4 grade • July 28–Aug 1 • 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
Students will learn the way different forms of entertainment changed from the early days of radio to modern filmmaking. Students will record a radio drama, write and film TV commercials, and work on putting together a film that will be shown with the commercials on the last day of class.
Tuition: $99 includes all fees

Actors Guild: Theater
2–4 grade • July 28–Aug 1 • 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
5–8 grade • July 28–Aug 1 • 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
Do you love the stage? Do you love performing to an audience? Then this theater class is just the ticket to
your debut! Learn about stage presence, improvisation, and dramatic interpretation. Our instructor will gently
guide and coach your steps towards auditioning and performing in San Diego in a practical, inclusive and
considerate way.
Material fee: $15 collected on the first day of class (Cash or check made out to instructor).

Beginning Acoustic Guitar
5–8 grade • July 14–18 • 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Students need to bring an acoustic guitar.
In this beginning guitar class, students will learn the basics of guitar, learn single notes, basic chords, melodies, and general music theory. Students will also learn classical finger style, how to read guitar tablature, and chord
charts. By the end of the class, you will be on your way to playing your favorite songs!
Tuition: $99 includes all fees

Garage Band

2–4 grade • July 14–18 • 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
This is an exciting addition to our summer program for children who love music and sounds. Our talented music
instructor will help the children find music expression using instruments and almost any other object to combine
tones, melodies and sounds—creating a band worthy of recording. Using the software “Garage Band” and our
state-of-the-art equipment at MiraCosta, your child will come home with his/her very own recording of their
“new band”.
Materials fee: $20 collected on first day of class (Cash or check made out to instructor).

Let’s Do Improv!
2–4 grade • July 14–18 • 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
5–8 grade • July 21–25 • 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
This class will focus on the art of improvisation, a popular form of theater where actors make up lines and
movements right on the spot. This format of theater has been made popular again by the hit TV show, “Who’s
Line Is It Anyway?” Students will learn the origins of improvisation and where it is today. They will put on a
performance that they will create as they go!
Tuition: $99 includes all fees

Piano Keyboards
2–4 grade • July 28–Aug 1 • 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
5–8 grade • July 28–Aug 1 • 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
Learn how to play the piano in one easy, fun-filled week. Our instructor will use chord recognition and note reading methods to teach you how to use both hands on the piano to play exciting and even difficult songs quickly! You will also play musical games that teach music theory, ear training, rhythm and music appreciation.

Recording Artist/Songwriter
5–8 grade • July 14–18 • 1 p.m.–4 p.m.
For the student who dreams of writing or recording a hit song, this class is perfect! We are pleased to offer
budding artists the opportunity to learn about songwriting techniques and recording software. Learn to critique
current popular recordings and find out how to set up an inexpensive home recording studio.Music theory,
lyric writing, song organization, Garage Band software, microphone technique, and more will be covered.
Materials fee: $20 collected on first day of class (Cash or check made out to instructor).

So You Think You Can Dance ?! (Jazz/Ta p class)
4–8 grade • July 28–Aug1 • 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Students must bring tap and jazz shoes.
Ever dream about being on “So You Think You Can Dance?” Jazz and tap are all about strength, flexibility,
and rhythm, and this class will start you on your way towards learning basic jazz and tap techniques. The class
will start with a stretching and conditioning warm-up, followed by jazz and tap steps with combinations across
the floor. Students will learn the basics of jazz and tap dancing, which dancers can use immediately to master
choreography or create their own unique rhythms. We will play games to improve timing and improvisation. The
class will learn a piece incorporating different styles of tap and jazz that will be shown to family and friends on
the last day!
Tuition: $99 includes all fees

Hip Hop Dance
5–8 grade • July 14–18 • 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Learn the hottest hip hop dance moves and the coolest routines, the kind you like seeing on TV and the Internet!!  Experience high-quality coordinated dancing with an MTV nominated dancer and choreographer. “Fusion” is a local college dance instructor who also works with younger students at a private academy. He will show you why hip hop has become the latest dance craze as well as a healthy way to stay fit.
Materials fee: $5 collected on the first day of class (Cash or check made out to your instructor).
