Robotics (4 days only)
Learn to use component-based robot construction, robotics programming, and the latest engineering design concepts and computing technologies to create and program more advanced Lego© MINDSTORMS™ robots. Students will work on increasingly more challenging robotic creations completing difficult missions and ultimately cooperating in teams to compete with each other. We recommend that students have previous MINDSTORMS ™ robotics experience.

Future Energy Engineers
The big bucks and job opportunities for the future will be in the field of Alternative Energy. We all want to live in a clean and green environment and leave this planet in a livable condition for future generations. Scientists are continuously trying to find alternative clean and green fuel for our daily use. Come explore the exciting choices in Alternative Energy- Wind, Solar, Hydrogen, Bio-Fuel, Geo-thermal, Hydro-Power, tidal power, etc. Work with energy experts using real PV and Wind power training equipment. End the week with a field trip through the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant.

The Apprentice – Entrepreneurship Academy
This could be the most important week of your life. You are invited to attend MiraCosta College’s Youth Academy and learn what it takes to:
• Save and spend in practical and meaningful ways
• Identify opportunities and take calculated risks
• Turn personal interests (e.g. music, fashion, computer skills, horticulture) and hobbies into opportunities to earn money
• Become leaders in your community
• Create personal financial health and wealth
You will have the benefit of questioning guest speakers and becoming involved in a variety of hands-on projects as you learn about business and develop your leadership skills. Whether you want to gain skills for better money management or hope to increase your entrepreneurial expertise, this is the right class for you. Students who successfully complete this course are invited by the San Diego Small Business Development Center to attend their Young Entrepreneurial Program at no cost!

Mixed Media Art Academy
Textured Mural
In this art course you will learn how to work with a variety of materials and art mediums. Using your imagination you will create an individual abstract work of art that will combine and unfold into a realistic class project! You will experiment with textured mediums, learn about gray scale, and explore a team approach to creating beautiful art.
8 – 10th Grade July 20-24, 1pm-4pm Tuition: $100 OC

Actors Theatrical Institute
Do you love drama? Do you make your friends crack-up? This workshop is designed to improve and enhance the actors’ creative and performing skills. Students will learn about playwriting and lighting; learn and prepare monologues; and understand what makes for a successful audition from actor and producer, Jonathan Keffer. They will also learn the subtleties of acting for stage, TV, and film. The class ends with a presentation of many theater styles including comedy, tragedy, improvisation, and the musical.

3d Graphics Modeling and Animation
This course will introduce you to 3D Studio Max, a popular and powerful software application used for 3D modeling in movies and videogames. You will learn creative approaches to making your own 3D objects while developing a working knowledge of the principles of computer movement and animation. Making 3D models takes time, patience, and careful guidance. You will be taught step by step to create, modify, and animate 3D models. Students learn how to use viewports and other tools, how to work with basic 3D shapes, use the Cartesian coordinate system, do Boolean operations and extrusions. In addition, students learn to add color and textures to their models, and end with animation skills to complete this exciting experience in 3D Modeling.
