I have been a painter since …well I have never really been anything else. I chose the path in the 5th grade when I was asked to draw a pastel nativity scene mural. In junior high I struggled between the art of writing and painting. My English teacher looked at my drawings and strongly recommended writing. Then I really knew I wanted to live as a painter. The struggle as an active artist and educator is to maintain the passion and drive in spite of all the distractions of the modern world. I believe that passion is ignited by the journey and that the inspiration is an outcome of the investigation.

My paintings are the products of the inspirational influences of cinema, storyboards, “novelas”, and my own life experiences. The work thrives on the art of storytelling, which merges fictional and non-fictional worlds. The intrigue for me is in the eclectic combinations and connections of life experience through the love of images.
